Ready for LCRW Conference with Bob Mayer

Write it Forward: From Writer to Successful Author by Bob Mayer

Cool Gus Publishing with Write it Forward Slideshare

In just a few days, Bob Mayer and Jen Talty with Cool Gus Publishing will be in Rochester, NY for the LCRW Conference. I feel like I’ve been talking about this for weeks, months. And I suppose I have.

This past Sunday, the announcement ran in the Living Section of Rochester’s Democrat and Chronicle Newspaper. Really cool to see it promoted by the D&C. And I’ve been talking to people who can’t wait to come to the conference as well. It should be a great time, learning about not only the craft of writing but the business of writing as well.

So am I ready for the conference? Yes. I am. I have my promo/swag gifts ready. I’m doing gum packets with my promo cards attached. I have a killer gift basket for my latest release… Intoxication: Addicted to Fang. And I have a notebook and several pens ready and waiting to get to work writing. So bring on the conference. I’m ready… are you?

LCRW Conference Featuring Bob Mayer

Bob Mayer CEO Cool Gus Publishing

On November 9 and 10th Bob Mayer and Jen Talty with Cool Gus Publishing will be in Rochester, NY speaking at the LCRW conference Write it Forward. It will be an small intimate conference with Bob Mayer speaking on the craft of writing and Jen Talty on the digital process.

The last time Bob came to western NY, I learned so much. So much. That if it weren’t for his workshop of craft I would still be unpublished and revamping my WIP over and over. now I have two indie published novels under my belt and working on the next.

Understanding the digital process is what I’m really excited to hear about. Right now in my career it’s what I lack in expertise. I believe I have my writing life organized, but you know it’s not 100%, but I’m happy to embrace the purge writer in me. Could I be more organize… Hell ya. Am I going to worry about it, right now? Nope. It works for me right now. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. But I’m sure when I hear Bob speak on writing… I may have to adjust my idea of not fixing it. Hopefully it will just spur me on to be better.

So here is to can’t wait for the conference, to learn more and to make myself better.

Cosmo Hump Day: Vampire sex

Yupp. Had to read Cosmo’s article: Why you need to have vampire sex. There was no hesitation with the mouse. I had to know what they thought of vampire sex would be like. I read through the 9 slides and most of it is in my book.

I do have controlling dominate women who wear red undies and rip off the clothes of those they desire. But I don’t have all that was mentioned in the article and, it did give me an idea of lighting some candles in a couple of the scenes. I did chuckle over the using teeth during oral. In my addicted to fang series, teeth fangs are used a lot over sensitive areas. How else would they became addicted to fang with out trying them out?

What do you think vampire sex should be about? Drop a line, let me know. Since most of the vampire sex we’ve all seen is True Blood, and Twilight.

Nanowrimo, Is here

Nanowrimo is here again. It’s November and I’m determined to get this novel written in for this goal. It’s the third in the series. I know why would I write out of the order?

The answer is the muses are screaming to be written. Beside I made a pack with myself to write Jayden’s story for Nanowrimo. I’m hoping for about 60,000 words. I just need to glue my butt to the chair and write. If I can get about 15,000 a week. I would make it in four weeks. Yes it’s beyond ambitious. But if you don’t dream big, you can’t reach for the stars.

This week, up until November 1st I’ll be doing a small outline (about six sentences) build my collage of what my characters look like. Get the setting in place, I already have the main conflict and idea and I’ll be ready to let it rip on November 1st.

I’ve already registered for Nanowrimo, have you? Want to be writing buddies… my handle is easy: Dena de Paulo. See ya there.

Addicted to Fang: Intoxication and Bublish

Addicted to Fang: Intoxicaiton by Dena de Paulo

Available at Ravenous Romance!

One of my favorite sites out there for interfacing Readers with Authors. It’s Bublish. You can use the website as a reader or an author. It’s visually pleasing. For Addicted to Fang: Intoxication, I picked the one moment in the book when the Dominic sees Ella and realizes his control is paper thin.

Yes. The book cover defines this ancient vampire to a “T”. Bublish gives book covers and blurbs more than just an image and words. Bublish gives the author a chance to put an insight behind the excerpt.

It’s a great interface, smooth to use. Take a look at Addicted to Fang: Intoxication on Bublish. If you like it take it for a spin. I love it.

Bob Mayer presenting in #Rochester, NY

Write it Forward: From Writer to Successful Author by Bob Mayer

Cool Gus Publishing with Write it Forward Slideshare

November 9&10, 2012 Bob Mayer and Jen Talty with Cool Gus Publishing will be in Rochester, NY for a Write on Rochester, conference presented by LCRW a local writer’s group.

Bob and Jen will be running a two day workshop on the craft of writing as well as on digital publishing.

The cost of this conference if you are in Rochester, is $50. Can’t beat that with a stick. Great information, great detail and a wonderful presentation all in our own backyard western NY. I’ve heard Bob Mayer speak several years ago in Syracuse. I have several of his craft books and when I’m stuck, yes I pull out my kernel idea and focus it on it. Some for Jen Talty, I’ve heard her present on varies topic across the northern seaboard and I learned how to do the basic plot structure from her.

I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us this year. For the past few weeks, Cool Gus Publishing has been putting out their Slides onto Slideshares from a lot of their workshops. It’s great to put written concepts with the memories in my head. Take some time, look over their slides and come to the Write on Rochester, conference in Rochester. You won’t be disappointed.

Release Date, Intoxication @ DenadePaulo. Paranormal romance with menage elements.

Intoxication Addicted to Fang book 1 by Dena de Paulo

Available Today, Oct 23, 3012 ! At Ravenous Romance

Addicted to Fang: Intoxication is now available. Wow. This process to get this novel to this point is one of great joy.

This is the first novel I wrote in a month. The first menage scene I’ve written is in this book. And since getting over the hump of writing the menage scene as helped me with book 2 of Addicted to Fang. Which is a true menage romance novel.

So here’s a blurb to the book that opened my mind into the depths of the paranormal erotic romance genre.

Telepath and succubus-in-training Ella Hustad’s fate changes the day she discovers her survival hinges on the slip of a vampire’s fang. It’s a sensation that both terrifies her and excites. Accepting Dominic Sebastian, the vampire governor of the eastern quadrant, as her savior might work for her body but she’s not sure if the rest of her is up to the challenge. His blissfully silent mind, his metallic gaze and the feel of his fangs is all she’ll ever need… but is it what she wants?

While on the hunt to save an unregistered active blood benefactor, Dominic falls under the hypnotic charm of Ella’s blood. But that’s not the only attraction. Desire, explosive and unrestrained, forges an unexpected bond between them. When another vampire wants Ella dead, Dominic must find a way to protect her or risk losing the one woman who can satisfy all of his fantasies?

Behind Intoxication Release Today

Intoxication Addicted to Fang book 1 by Dena de Paulo

Available at Ravenous Romance!

Writing Intoxication was part therapy, part-fantasy. It’s been said a million times that paranormal ideas help people deal with hard emotional concepts.

I’m going to take the party line here and say…Yupp that’s me. This novel was my lifesaver this past year.

Normally, I don’t divulge into the privacy of my personal life, but I find talking about the reason behind this novel isn’t complete without the whole picture. I wrote this novel in a purge of a moment, desperate to get emotions off my chest. It took me one month to write close to fifty thousand world, then it took two months to get it revised correctly. When I pitched it to Lori Perkins she told me I was a purge writer.

Last year, my husband was diagnosis with cancer, and during the time I wrote this book,  I sat next to him during chemo treatments, my house was over ran with caring loving family members and I struggled each day to keep a stable happy front for all my family, my children and especially my husband. This book as out there as it is, helped me get those weird emotions I struggled with under control. My life was so out of the box that I wrote out of the box. I would sit there and say, how can I make this even more extreme and I would write it. So sometimes even with all the craziness in the world, some good can come from it.

Pro Pin from RWA

RWA Pro Pin by Deb Diez

Wow, what a week. Since Ravenous Romance sent me the contract, I’ve been through some revisions and just got a sneak peek of the book cover for Intoxication, Addicted to Fang Book 1 this past week. And it’s hot. Not to mention I got a publication date Tuesday Oct. 23, 2012.

A couple weeks ago, I sent in my Pro applications because Intoxication is a full length novel among other things making me eligible for the title, RWA Pro. I received my pin this week, in the mail. I can’t stop the smile from creeping across my face. I’ve been apart of the Romance Writers America for years now. Eveyone wants to get the Pro pin and the PAN pin. We’ll see about the PAN pin, it’s a goal of mine and one I will work to achieve. But first I’m happy to have my Pro pin. I’m proud of achieving it on a positive note, a contract on a category length novel.
